Szafarnia is an important and inspiring place for all young musicians thanks to historical summer visits of young Fryderyk Chopin in the manor house of the Dziewanowski Family in 1824 and 1825. One of the mission of the Chopin Center in Szafarnia is to promote the Polish composer and his amazing works by various events such as concerts, music courses and competitions.
The biggest event is the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Children and Youth in Szafarnia, organized annually since 1992. For 26 years the Competition has evolved and gained the recognition of pianists from around the world.
In the previous 26th Competition 56 pianists from 24 countries participated, including those from Canada, Vietnam, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Singapore, USA, China, Japan, Australia and Palestine.
The year 2019 marks the 27th edition of the Competition and is an excellent opportunity for young musicians to present their piano skills in front of prominent jury members and other contestants.
